Trees are the keepers of our humanity. I want to be a keeper of our trees.

My main research concerns the adaptation and genomics of forest trees. I started my research in tropical forests in Southeast Asia. Now I am shifting my focus to temperate forests in Europe and North America. I also conduct research in Wytham and Blenheim in Oxford. In my public engagement, I have worked closely with the Museum of Climate Change in Hong Kong and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

I have a fond interest in artistry. I am a classical singer by training and have curated several solo recitals. I am a novice poet whose poem collection Wooden Heart is set to music by Alvin Leung and presented in the Earth Day Art Model 2020 in the United States. I seek to investigate the relationship between humans (and broadly, humanities) and Nature in my art.

I graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in Biology, triple-minoring in Environmental Science, German, and Music. I then read my doctorate at the University of Oxford.

I was named a National Geographic Explorer in 2022 and was awarded the Irene Manton Prize in 2024 for my research on critically endangered rosewood trees.
